When Providence lifted its capricious hand and touched mural artist Thomas Kehoe with the desire to create art, It added the need to fill large spaces with dreamscapes and wall murals of such magnitude and beauty as to challenge man's boundless imagination. When Tom creates a wall mural, it becomes a window that the mind enters and roams looking for the hidden elements of humor and magic.
Creative children always get into trouble when their incipient artist streak expands to include wall painting. Very few artists-to-be weather the frustration of early criticism for such forays of creativity. Tom Kehoe weathered the reactions to his early work and never lost his fascination of the magic of taking a blank wall and making a new world. Sure, over the years he has added more realism and a deeper play of light and shadow, but then he also enjoys using up more of the wall.
“When I paint, I am transported into a realm where my hands make the scenes in my mind appear as if my brush is just dusting off the wall, uncovering the picture that is already there. Every client and every wall is different, only the brushes remain the same.”
Tom Kehoe's murals are known for their vibrant colors, realistic landscapes, and intriguing seascapes. Tom's murals capture moments of action where the viewer can imagine different story lines for what happens next time they look at the mural. “I like it when you leave a room and wonder what will happen in the mural while you are gone.”
Garden Landscape Designer - Water Feature & Stone Landscaping
Tom took on the role of garden landscape designer after his work hand painting garden murals expanded to creating gardens to frame the murals and then, taking on a life of its own, redesigning backyards with waterscapes, landscapes with water falls and ponds.
From excavating to plant and water feature placement, Tom takes a hands-on approach to seeing his garden landscape and waterscape designs take shape.
